The Banza

Does having the banza change Cabree's heart, or bring out what was always in her heart?

41 comments:

  1. It changes Cabree heart because she wouldn't even come out of the cave to see the tigers and when she got the bonza she stood up to ten tigers.

pg.15."Slowly and fiercely cabree walked toward the bonza" It supports my answer because she stood up to the tiger and didn't even scream.

pg.20."Cabree began one fat tiger, please whispered the tiger let me go". It proves she stood up to ten tigers cause with out the bonza she was always hiding in caves.

pg.10."Mama Papa Auntie"Teegra cried joyfully as the huge tigers bounded out of the bushes.Cabree ran into the cave with out waiting. It supports my answer because she doesn't even come out of the cave to see the tigers.

  2. The banza brings out what was already in her heart because she had courage, she just didn't know it.

"Cabree's heart beat very fast, but in time to her heartbeat, she stroked the banza." page 16. She never would have done that with-out courage.

"To her own surprise it was a loud, low, ferocious song."page 16. The courage came out with the banza's help.

"Slowly and fiercely Cabree walked toward the banza. Another tiger appeared. Now there were five. Cabree kept walking."page 15. Cabree has found bravery in herself because of the banza.

  3. It changes her heart because the banza goes in the heart and there is no stronger protection then the heart.

page 11 "Auntie says the banza belongs to the heart." Without the banza her heart won't be complete.

page 17 "Ten fat tigers, ten fat tigers..." This song proves that her heart changed because she is playing with the banza.

page 15 "One afternoon Cabree went to a spring and she wanted a drink, but she was to afraid her banza would get wet." The banza is in the heart and she does not want it to get wet. That is a loving thing.

pg. 10 Cabree ran into the cave without waiting.
    Cabree is scared.

pg 15 Cabree slowly and firecrly walked toward the banza.

Her heart made her pluck the banza.
pg 16"And cabree, trying to quiet her thundering, pounding heart, brought her foreleg to her chest and,by plucked the banza.

The heart made her sing the song.
pg 17"Ten fat tigers, ten tigers, cabree eats tigers raw.

The song that she sung fritened the tigers.

  7. I think it brang out what was in her heart.

pg 17 "Ten fat tigers, ten fat tigers,Cabree eats tigers raw."
This shows you that Cabree isn't afraid of the tigers

pg 17" Slowly and fiercely Cabree walked toward the banza."
She wasn't afraid to walk past the tigers.

pg 17" And that is my song.I always sing it before dinner"
That shows that she isn't afraid to let her heart out.

  8. you made a good point on number three. Although he doesn`t sing that before he eats supper he does it anyway because he wants to scare the tigers away.

  9. The banza made Cabree's heart change.

At the beginning of the story the narrator tells us that Cabree was, "quite small, lonely, and afraid." (pg 9) Cabree was also a bit of a scaredy cat. For instance when Teegra's family came, "Cabree ran into the cave without warning."(pg 10) Cabree stayed in the cave after Teegra left until the next morning when Teegra came back with the banza. Everything changed after this point.

Before the banza was in Cabree's life she ran away from danger like thunder storms and tigers. After she got the banza she was full of confidence. The very creatures that she ran from before the banza was in her life, she stands up to. When she is by the water hole four tigers pop up and Cabree does something she would not have done before she had the banza. She goes right toward the tigers. "Slowly and fiercely Cabree walked toward the banza."(pg 15) Before she would have never said a word to the tigers but now she is quick thinking and sings a song to intimidate the tigers. "Ten fat tigers, ten fat tigers..."(pg 17) She sings this song four times and scares away the tigers. She would have never done this if the banza had not changed her heart.

  12. I think the banza brought out what was in her heart and protected her for the following reasons:
First, the banza belongs to the heart. The banza and the heart will be one. When she was in the forest her heart would have a new song. There is no stronger protection than the heart. The banza would have a new song. Whenever she stopped, her heart would change the song. I know this because in the story it says,” There is no stronger protection than the heart”.
Second, the song that protected her was, “Ten fat tigers, ten fat tigers, Cabree eats tigers raw. Yesterday Cabree ate ten tigers; Today Cabree eats ten more. Five fat tigers, five fat tigers, Cabree eats tigers raw. Yesterday Cabree ate ten tigers; Today Cabree eats five more. Three fat tigers, three fat tigers Cabree eats tigers raw. Yesterday Cabree ate ten tigers; today Cabree eats three more”. All she had done was stroke the banza and sing what was in her heart. But every now and then, she would stop. She would stroke the banza and sing, for her heart would have a new song. I know this because Teegra said “auntie says the banza will protect you because it will bring out what is in your heart”.
Third, she was scared of the tigers at first, but not after she sang what was in her heart. I know this because she wanted to jump across the river, but after she sang what was in her heart and the tigers were scared of her.

  13. I think the banza brought out what was in her heart.
First, I think the banza protected her and, “The banza belongs to the heart and there is no stronger protection than the heart.”
Second, it made her confident. Place it over your heart, and `one day the heart and banza will be one. “Ten fat tigers, ten fat tigers Cabree eats tigers raw yesterday Cabree ate ten tigers today Cabree eats ten more. Five fat tigers, five fat tigers Cabree eats tigers raw yesterday Cabree ate ten tigers today Cabree eats five more. Three fat tigers, three fat tigers Cabree eats tigers raw yesterday Cabree ate ten tigers today Cabree eats ten more.”
Finally, “all she had done was to play the banza and sing what was in her heart.” But every now and then she would stop. She strokes her banza and sing, for her heart would have a new song.

  14. I think the banza brought out what was in her heart.
First, all she did was play from her heart and the banza protected her. "Her heart had protected her. Her heart and her banza."
Second, when Cabree sang the song she became confident and played, and sang from her heart. "And that is my song. I always sing it before dinner." "She would stroke her banza and sing, for heart would have a new song."
Finally, once the banza protected her she wasn’t afraid of the tigers anymore. "She sang a fierce song: Ten fat tigers, ten fat tigers, Cabree eats tigers raw. Yesterday Cabree ate ten tigers; Today Cabree eats ten more."

  15. The banza changed Cabree’s heart. First, she was scared of the tigers before, but when she played the song it probably scared the tigers. She was scared of them before because it said in the story, “Cabree ran into the cave without waiting”. Second, after Cabree sang her song she said, “I always sing it before dinner”. Third, when she sang her song she was surprised. Finally, when she was trotting though the forest she would stop because her heart would have a new song.
